Sweden Day 4 – Hoops, Graduation Caps & Kubb : A Perfect Day in Sweden

Today was a very very exciting day. It started off like the previous 3 days, morning runs for some, quick breakfasts and project work in school. We even played basketball with the students in the school’s team a couple of times in breaks and it was awesome getting to know them.
At the end of the school day, we witnessed a part of the 3rd year students’ graduation event. All the students of the batch gather around the stairs, their principal gives a short 10 minute speech and they all sing a song which celebrates memories and hopes for bright futures ahead. After that all of them walk to a statue of Doctor Westerlund and prop a big white cap on the statue’s head, similar to those that they wear. We unfortunately could not see this but it was a unique experience nonetheless.

For us, the actual fun began after school, when some of our Swedish friends came over to our campsite and we played Kubb! At this point, we were familiar with each other and had a blast together, playing for almost 2 and a half hours. Sunset views, dinner and a few odd jobs brought the end of a crazy and super enjoyable day.
