Our day trip to Uppsala began with a scenic bus ride through the Swedish countryside. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Lotta and Ellen, two Swedish teachers who joined us for the day. We kicked things off with a visit to the Gustavianum, Uppsala University’s oldest building. Inside, we explored the historic Anatomical Theatre, the intricate Augsburg Art Cabinet, and exhibits highlighting pioneers like Carl Linnaeus and Anders Celsius—offering a window into Sweden’s rich academic legacy.
Next, we visited Uppsala Cathedral, a towering Gothic masterpiece and the tallest church in Scandinavia. Its grand interior featured Saint Erik’s shrine, stunning stained-glass windows, and medieval treasures in the Treasury Museum. For lunch, we gathered at Café Carl Von Linné, where we tucked into lasagnas, pies, and moussakas. One egg-allergic Dhruvian was specially served a comforting pasta dish, ending our day on a warm, thoughtful note.
